Stages voice instructor Emily Gradowski presents "I Hate Music: A collection of art songs and arias." Enjoy the delicate but powerful soprano vocal stylings of Emily,  accompanied by Evan Cooper on piano, as they perform a collection of Art Songs in English with a smattering of arias mixed in. Emily will be presenting some of pieces that first introduced her to classical music and made her fall in love with the genre. These pieces will make you laugh, make you cry, and hopefully make you curious to hear more! What is an Art Song? Amp Basics: How to Get Great Guitar Tone

Speed & Creativity in Drumming

Join Ian Wysham to dive into drumming rudiments - the basic vocabulary of the drummer - to learn how to get creative with the fundamentals. You'll build your chops, learn to play faster, learn to solo and find creative new ways to expand your drum vocabulary. Attendees will use material from George Lawrence Stone's book Stick Control to developing precision and control, especially with various sticking patterns. This class will be most beneficial to ages 12+ especially those who have an understanding of music fundamentals and would benefit from developing their technique and mechanics. Let's Jam! Our hugely popular jam night is an opportunity for students of all abilities to informally play together under the guidance of an instructor. Jam Night can take many forms, depending on who is in attendance, but usually includes playing songs selected by attendees, guided improvisation, opportunities to solo and more. There is no audience for Jam Night - more an opportunity for musicians to hone their group playing and improv skills with the expectation that it will be messy and free! His imagination and boundless enthusiasm behind (and around) the drum set are singular and stunning. His contributions to the Minneapolis and New York jazz scenes are incalculable, and he has performed in 75 countries on six continents, and has been a member of bands like The Bad Plus, Happy Apple, Halloween Alaska, 12 Rods, Love Cars, The Gang Font, and others.
