Jam Night

Let's Jam! Our hugely popular jam night is an opportunity for students of all abilities to informally play together under the guidance of an instructor. Jam Night can take many forms, depending on who is in attendance, but usually includes playing songs selected by attendees, guided improvisation, opportunities to solo and more.  There is no audience for Jam Night - more an opportunity for musicians to hone their group playing and improv skills with the expectation that it will be messy and free! A "Writer's Round" features multiple performers on stage together, taking turns playing their songs and telling the stories that inspire or accompany them. This enthralling evening of music and storytelling in Stages' intimate performance hall features three incredible musicians: Jon Zorn is a Baltimore-based singer songwriter and member of the band Western Run, whose music is characterized by honest, soulful expressions mixed with a bluesy new country vibe. Hailing from Baltimore, he started playing at age 4 and was performing in nightclubs by the time he celebrated his 6th birthday. One of the most influential drummers of his generation, Chambers was inducted into the Modern Drummer Hall of Fame in 2001.
