Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Stages Band Program?

The Stages Band Program is your chance to rock out, make friends, and grow as a musician! We place students into groups of 3–6 based on age, instruments, musical goals and tastes, experience level and availability. Bands rehearse once a week with one of our talented instructors, working together to prepare for exciting live performances at local venues and creating your own music in the studio! Along the way, you’ll sharpen your skills, build confidence, and experience the thrill of being part of a real band.

How do I enroll in the program?

It’s easy! Just fill out the form at the bottom of this page with as much detail as possible. If you have further questions, reach out to Band Program Director Ian Wysham via email or by calling 443-353-5304.

When are rehearsals held?

Bands rehearse once a week for 90 minutes. We offer convenient time options during the week (4:00, 5:30 and 7:00 p.m.) and on Saturdays (10:00 or 11:30 a.m. or 1:00 or 2:00 p.m.). Band members are also expected to practice regularly outside of rehearsals so you show up to practice prepared with your part and ready to integrate that with the group. Just like sports, the more prepared you are, the stronger the whole team is. Your instructor will give you clear practice goals at the end of each rehearsal and follow up with notes through our online portal.

How do I change my day/time/band or cancel my enrollment?

We understand schedules can change. If you need to pause your enrollment or switch to a different band, fill out registration form below indicating what changes you need to make.

How do I communicate with my teacher?

All communication happens through our Opus1 portal. You’ll get rehearsal notes there each week and you can message your instructor directly with questions. You can not communicate with your band mates via Opus1.

When and where will my band perform?

We host exciting shows throughout the year at local venues such as Zen West, BC Brewery, Ashland Cafe, The Recher and more. Once you’re enrolled, you will receive your band’s guaranteed performance schedule. Each band is guaranteed a minimum of two performances each calendar year, as well as opportunities to record in our state-of-the-art studios.

What is the cost of the band program?

Band tuition is $150/month for students enrolled in lessons at Stages and $175 for students not currently enrolled. If you enroll or disenroll from private lessons, your band tuition will be adjusted accordingly.

Testimonials

  • Thank you to all for yet another great experience with the Adult Jam session. The challenge to keep up with such motivated players inspired me to work towards becoming a more confident and proficient player. I look forward to continuing beyond Adult Jam well into Senior Jam.

  • My son just enrolled with the band program, great fit – he loves it and is very much looking forward to the Frostfest in December!
    Kelly M.
  • ‘State of the art’ really doesn’t do this place justice. If your child wants to study an instrument or sing, or has a group of friends that want to be in a band, you need to get them here!
