Congratulations to Amelia for being featured. We can’t wait to watch where you grow!
What do you study and why did you pick that instrument?
I study voice, piano and guitar. I picked these because I was interested in learning what I can do with my voice and some of my family members, including my dad and grandmother, play piano and guitar.
Who is your teacher and what do you love about them?
My teachers are Ms. Taylor for lessons and Mr. Trevor for band. My teachers are so supportive and always have helpful suggestions to help me grow and improve. We also like similar music.
What kind of music do you listen to or play? Who is one of your favorite artists?
I like listening to and playing pop songs because they are fun, catchy, and good to dance to. I like artists like Olivia Rodrigo.
What has been your greatest musical challenge?
My greatest challenge has been having the patience to learn things one step at a time, because I always want to learn the whole song all at once.
What’s your favorite thing about Stages or do you have a favorite Stages memory?
My favorite thing about Stages is the band program. It’s been so fun to perform with my band on stage and having the additional opportunity to work on skills during lessons. My favorite Stages memory is making a music video with my band band being able to see what a real recording session looks like.
What are your musical goals?
My musical goals are to be able to improvise on guitar and piano, and write some of my own songs one day.
What advice would you give to someone just starting out in music?
Tell us a fun fact about yourself.
A fun fact about me is that I am on a dance team at my studio and dance in competitions.
What’s something you’ve accomplished musically that you’re really proud of?
I am proud of being able to sing and play an instrument at the same time while performing live.
Who is your musical role model or inspiration?
How has music changed your life?
