Soundwave Scholars: Jackson Morgan

“Soundwave Scholars” is a series in which we highlight original music created by Electronic Music Production students.

For the final segment of the year, we turn the spotlight to Jackson Morgan. Nominated by his Instructor, Jason Cohen, Jackson has impressed the Stages community with his accomplishments, including his recent original track, “Slippery Souls“.

Check out this Q&A with the young producer in which he discusses his creative process and future goals.

How has your skill set has evolved through Electronic Music Production classes?

The thing I’ve learned the most about is using the music software (Ableton Live) and integrating my knowledge of music theory and piano into the software.

What is your favorite thing about EMP at Stages?

My favorite thing about Electronic Music at Stages is that it is very unrestricted and you mostly get individual help.

Could you provide insight into any upcoming tracks or projects?

I usually don’t think about what my next tracks will be, I usually get creative and make music without planning.

What do you hope to do with music in the future?

In the future, I hope to make soundtracks for movies and/or video games.
