May Student Spotlight: Milo Hannah

Milo is a special young musician. Growing up in a musical family, he’s already been exposed to so much music and is comfortable playing many different styles. He plays with dynamics and a maturity that always serves the song. Milo has a positive attitude and is willing to play anything. He shows up prepared, knowing the drum parts, as well as the overall structure of the song. Milo is the type of musician anyone would want in their band – fun, attentive, skilled and eager to grow!

What do you study and why did you pick that instrument?

I study drums. I originally started taking piano lessons in 2nd grade, but quickly got bored. And my mom happened to be taking drum lessons. I went inside to watch and started mimicking what she was doing. Then I started taking drum lessons and it just came naturally to me, I loved it.

Who is your teacher and what do you love about them?

My drum teacher is Taso. He is a great teacher and is just what I need to learn. He is very energetic and always keeps it new. He’s very caring and is incredible at what he does.

What kind of music do like to listen to or play? Recent favorite artist?

I listen to and play all sorts of music – from latin to metal to funk and rock. I really enjoy Led Zeppelin, especially as a drummer, listening to the incredible Bonzo is very inspirational.

What’s your favorite thing about Stages or do you have a favorite Stages memory?

I love how Stages pushes not just kids but adults too to learn and play music, whether they are new to it or not. My favorite Stages memory was probably the Spring Jamboree 2022, especially ‘Moby Dick’.

What are your musical goals? What is one of your non-music related goals?

My current overall music goal is to gig and record and maybe make some money out of it. And a non-music goal of mine is just to always better myself as a person.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself not related to music?

I have 7 cats and a dog (split between 2 houses).
