Victoria Victoria, featuring Charlie Hunter

The Patio Stage at Stages Music Arts 10 Stenersen Lane, Cockeysville, MD, United States
$30 General Admission; $25 Stages Students; $40 Day of Show

Join us on June 22nd at 7:30 PM for an elegant evening of Indie Pop on the Stages patio with Victoria Victoria, featuring Charlie Hunter. Victoria Victoria is the brain child of singer-songwriter-producer, Tori Elliott. Compared to the likes of modern songwriting giants, Maggie Rogers, Regina Spektor and Carole King, Elliott leans into lusciously stacked harmonies and entrancing melodies. Her songs speak to the relatability and nuances of love, relationship and growing older. Accompanying Elliot is Charle Hunter, whose guitar technique has been described as "mind-boggling." Hunter is an "agile improviser with an ear for great tone" who plays custom-made seven- and eight-string guitars on which he simultaneously plays bass lines, chords, and melodies in a way that creates the illusion of two guitars.

Summer Songwriting Series 1 of 4: Show, Don’t Tell

Julian S. Smith Performance Hall 10 Stenersen Lane, Cockeysville, MD, United States
$100 (sign up for each session separately)

Jen and Scott Smith of Naked Blue will take aspiring songwriters on a journey through what it takes to create consistent, quality songs in this four part series July 9, 23, August 6, 20. Most of us assume that all it takes to write a great song is a few chords, a melody, and emotional inspiration. Every once in a while a song is written that way. But for those who would like to build a body of work, a song catalog or a career in songwriting, knowing the craft is critical to cranking out consistently good songs and will allow you to finish your songs faster and identify precisely what needs improvement. July 9 | SESSION 1: Show, Don't Tell Humans are storytellers. Our default is to communicate directly. Bending this approach can be one of the toughest hurdles, but it can be the difference between mediocre and great lyrics. OTHER SESSIONS INCLUDE: July 23 | SESSION 2: Deconstructing a Hit August 6 | SESSION 3: Song Critique Session August 20 | SESSION 4: Enhance Your Performance, Enhance Your Song
